While 10,000s of broadcasts are indeed lost, more stuff may exist than assumed... |
For example, a 1950s show called "Meet the Boss", considered to be a documentary series, was presumed completely lost, but an episode survives because it was submitted to the Peabody awards, which retained the kinescope.
It probably wasn't much of a show, but at least an example survives for those researching that era in television (though I do wish they'd post it online...there's a good chance it is public domain now anyway).
